Come ride with us!

Elgin Community Bikes is a non-profit organization using bike riding to make Elgin a healthier, happier, and more equitable community. We host fun, social rides to meet our city and neighbors. Come ride with us!

Our Rides

We host fun, social rides. Some are for slightly more adventurous adults (i.e. Full Moon Ride, medium pace). Some are for families with small children (i.e. Kidical Mass). Some are for ages 8-80 (i.e. Bike Elgin). For all rides, riders are responsible for their own behavior and safety. We want everyone to have fun and be good neighbors.

Riders are responsible for themselves and their own compliance with any applicable laws and need to sign an annual ride waiver to participate.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, we are also using the guidance provided by Ride Illinois to adapt our community rides to strive for the safety of all participants. Please help us all be safe while we try to connect in appropriate ways.

Community Bike Shop

As part of our efforts to increase access to opportunities in Elgin, we also operate a community bike shop at 119 S Grove Ave in downtown Elgin. Our community bike shop is a full service shop providing repair services and sales. We’re here to help you get rolling or to keep rolling! The community bike shop helps connect our neighbors with bicycles that match their budgets and revenues help power our community programs. Roll on in and see how we can help you!

Bike storytelling

In addition to hosting fun, social rides, we occasionally do some writing and videos to look at the city and how people walking and biking interact with it.
