Community Bike Shop

Elgin needs a community bike shop to provide access to bicycles, parts, service, and other support that only a local 'brick-and-motar' venue can provide. To meet that need, we launched our community bike shop at 119 S Grove Ave in downtown Elgin.

We look a lot like your typical bike shop with bicycle repair services and a mix of bicycles and accessories available for purchase. So whether you are looking for a new bike, a new to you bike, a repair, an upgrade on a part, or some accessories, roll in and see how we can help you out.

Non-profit?

Yes, Elgin Community Bikes is a non-profit organization. We exist to support the health and well-being of everyone in Elgin, particularly with regard how we all move around the city. Our primary tool is bicycles. Our community bike shop has many of the services and functions you would see in any traditional bike shop. Our sales and services provide local access in Elgin and serves earned-revenue for Elgin Community Bikes’ programs.

In addition to earned-revenue for Elgin Community Bikes’ community programming, a brick-and-mortar location will become a classroom to teach youth and adults about bicycles. It will also become a community workshop where individuals can do their own maintenance work. However Elgin Community Bikes serves you as a community bike shop, we’ll be be working together to make Elgin a healthier, happier, and more equitable city.

Elgin Community Bikes’ approach is supports the community and requires community support. Can you help power our mission? Donate now.
